Mexico City is an exotic culinary capital of the world. Today’s gastronomic melting pot, with more than 15,000 restaurants offers everything from taco stands on the streets to simple, family-style eateries and elite restaurants.

The number and range of international restaurants is growing and diversifying, particularly in middle- and upper-class neighborhoods like Polanco, San Angel, La Condesa, La Roma, Lomas de Chapultepec, and Del Valle. The sea of options in Mexico City restaurants can be segmented by meal: breakfast, lunch, and evening meal; by international cuisine: Japanese, Italian, French, Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Mediterranean, Lebanese, Polish, etc; by zones: south, north, downtown; and finally by price.

Bars/nightlife

Mexico City is the sort of megalopolis where you can show up at any bar at 6pm on a Monday and find the place already bustling with people. Not only are mexicans master revelers who wouldn’t scoff at a midweek party, but we don’t put down our beers for a minor inconvenience such as sunrise.

On any given night, people can find restaurant/bars, gallery/bars, irish pubs, mezcalerías, cervecerías, bars with crowded dance floors, and independent bars with movie screenings. If you’re a night owl, you’ll find plenty of options to go out at any given time.
